Sitecore Symposium 2018 is the annual gathering of the global Sitecore community. 3,000 strategists, developers, marketers and customers gathered in Orlando between 8 – 11 October to find out what’s new with the platform, share best practice and enjoy a packed agenda of sessions from inspirational speakers.
We were proud that amongst those speakers was one of our own Sitecore MVP’s Jeremy Davis. In his talk, ‘Measure, if you want to go faster’ he shared his experiences of building websites that can endure load spikes. He explained the tools to spot issues and correct code problems. Here’s what made Sitecore Symposium 2018 great.
Every year we get to see some remarkable case studies, that demonstrate great results and innovation. This year was no exception to that rule. Use of Sitecore personalisation really stood out across the case studies this year and how Sitecore Experience commerce is delivering great results in customer experience. The presenters came from a range of industry sectors. We enjoyed presentations from the likes of Zurich Insurance, ASOS, EasyJet, Volvo Cars, Atlantis the Palm and Zurich Insurance.
One case study which truly stood out from the crowd was the amazing work done by Mick Ebeling, CEO of Not Impossible Labs. This inspirational case study explored how the power of technology can have an impact on social causes, an ethos we like to follow at Kagool.
If you’re a part of the Sitecore community and keen to connect with peers in marketing, development this was the event for you. Symposium is the largest gathering of Sitecore MVPs, partners, customers and developers. The different tracks and extensive choice of presentations allowed attendees to customise their day and squeeze as much into the tightly packed schedule.
This year, the well-thought-out break areas and partner village created a great environment to meet new people and develop Sitecore knowledge. The handy app made it easy to connect with some of the 3000 Sitecore professionals in attendance.
There were some big announcements at Symposium. Sitecore revealed their acquisition of Style Labs who are a market leader in cloud based digital asset management (DAM), marketing resource management (MRM) and product information management (PIM) solutions. We look forward to seeing how this acquisition will help improve Sitecore’s end-to-end marketing platform and cloud technologies.
There was also the announcement of the upcoming release of Sitecore 9.1.
The release will bring updates to Sitecore Cortex (machine learning), JSS improvements, enhancements to EXM, publishing services and SXA along with much more. The final day of the conference was a big day for Sitecore with a key note from Mark Zablan (Sitecore Chief Revenue Officer) who discussed the future of data and privacy. Ryan Donovan closed Sitecore Symposium 2018 with a presentation about the roadmap for Sitecore. This included an exciting demonstration of the planned Sitecore Content Management Hub, following on from the Style Labs acquisition.
There was also a demonstration of Horizon, which will take experience editing to the next level. We look forward to getting our hands on these new technologies and passing our new knowledge onto our customers.
This year was the best Sitecore Symposium to date. We are already looking forward to seeing everyone at Sitecore Symposium 2019.
