The Next Web 2018

23rd May 2018

We are at The Next Web Conference 2018 and ready to learn

It’s that time of year again where 15,000 of the world’s best and brightest digital minds, plus me, gather in Amsterdam for two action packed days of tech, society and future innovations. The Next Web is hosted in a festival style environment with an amazing atmosphere buzzing with discussions around the different perspectives of the advances in tech.

The Next Web is one of the few remaining places where the likes of Google and Microsoft mingle with start-ups and digital entrepreneurs, who are all there to learn about tech, publishing, marketing, design, innovation and changing audiences.

This year the line-up is better than ever and these are my top 10 picks of events to look forward to:

Talk Title Why We’re Excited
1 Google talk on decision intelligence What is machine learning? What is AI? I’ll unpick the myths and the jargon and come back with a pragmatic plan for the brands we serve.
2 Building a stellar tech team What are the characteristics of a successful entrepreneurial tech team? I’ll be looking to pick up some tips and suggestions to help keep Kagool at the forefront of tech and digital.
3 Microsoft’s take on AI As Sitecore is a .net platform it’s great to see the Microsoft take on it. What are the characteristics of a successful entrepreneurial tech team?
4 Implications of GDPR On May 25, 2018 the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will begin to be enforced. After heading about this topic left, right and centre, it’ll be a great opportunity to see an academic take on the implications of GDPR.
5 A funny take on tech Funny As Tech is a podcast where a tech ethicist and comedians tackle the thorniest issues in tech!
6 Thursday Hangout Networking with tech enthusiasts from across the globe.
7 Take on Fake News and implications for the future Join Camille Francois on a voyage into disinformation networks and how they affect the world around us. What impact does it really have?
8 Trends of tomorrow I still can’t believe I need a virtual companion. May be this will make me rethink this?
9 New ways of doing business This is all about the impact of tech on internationalisation and traditional ways of doing business.
10 Listening to what’s new in Voice Search The BBC’s take on voice search. Great when you think of the library they have at their disposal, should be an interesting one.

Last year the event was massive, this year I expect it to be even better. Can’t wait and see you there!
